Will-Grundy Medical Clinic Program

What is it?

The Will-Grundy Medical Clinic (WGMC), known today throughout the community as the Free Clinic, offers quality primary, diagnostic, and therapeutic care at no cost to patients in need. Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center has been a significant supporter of the Free Clinic since its beginnings, providing funding and volunteer hours from clinical staff and contributing free services and leadership through service on WGMC's board of directors.

Who is it for?
Underserved and underprivileged members of the community.

Why do they do it?
Twenty years ago, the Will-Grundy Medical Clinic was born out of a need to address an increasing segment of the population that lacked access to health care. Fig

Impact: In 2007, patients of the clinic received over $630,000 worth of prescription assistance and 2,980 diagnostic procedures valued at over $1.1 million. The hospital accepted 44 WGMC patients for surgical procedures and related services, valued at over $2 million. More than 774 related services, including pathology, radiology, and diagnostic testing and treatments were also donated. Over the past 10 years, Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center has donated more than $8.5 million worth of services and procedures to Will-Grundy Medical Clinic.
