MEADE DISTRICT HOSPITAL, Meade, KS
Community Wellness
What is it?
We wanted to become more proactive in the health of our community. To work towards this goal, we have implemented several programs.
-
Monthly displays that focus on nutrition and physical activity ranging from the health pyramid and the different types of apples to choose from to strength training for the senior adult.
-
Yearly health fair that offers several diagnostics at a reduced price (i.e. Bio Z, DEXA, CBC, Td Update)
-
Helped the local high school with their hand washing grant to promote community awareness on what is out there if they don't wash their hands. Our lab performed the cultures the high school students had swabbed throughout the community.
-
Support tobacco cessation and developed a tobacco free campus policy that sets the goal for other entities in the community.
-
Monthly wellness information on our website
Who is it for?
All community members
Why do they do it?
In conjunction with the Meade County Extension and Meade County Health Departments, we wanted to focus on a healthy life style. Working together and getting our community involved is a fun, interactive way towards this goal.
