MOBRIDGE REGIONAL HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION, Mobridge, SD
"Tough Enough to Wear Pink" Cancer Awareness Program

What is it?
Mobridge Regional Healthcare Foundation teamed up with the Mobridge Rodeo Association in a "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" Cancer Awareness Program. Businesses had fundraisers, communities bought pink t-shirts to show their support, Miss Rodeo America spoke at a banquet about her fight against cancer, and every Tuesday from June 1 to July 3 was "Pink Tuesday," where people wore their pink t-shirts to raise awareness. The finale was "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" Night at the Sitting Bull Stampede Rodeo.

Who is it for?
This program covers a four-county area in North Central South Dakota. People who live as far away as 100 miles participated by purchasing pink t-shirts and attending the rodeo.

Why do they do it?
The purpose was to create awareness of a disease that takes so many lives every day. The event brought communities together and got people thinking of their own health and the health of their families. The program raised close to $33,000 for the Mobridge Regional Hospital and Clinics for cancer awareness and education.
