Women's Health Expo

What is it?   
A free community event, Women's Health Expo focuses on women's and children's health issues, and raises Breast Cancer Awareness.  Those attending have the opportunity to:

  • Visit with physicians, dietitians, therapists, and support groups;
  • Receive health screenings;
  • Monitor their blood pressure, body fat, and cholesterol;
  • Attend free seminars by physicians on urinary incontinence, diabetes, choices for hysterectomy, updates on teenage immunization, preparing for pregnancy, hearing loss, and sleep apnea;
  • Enjoy live heart healthy cooking demonstrations, meet community vendors with products and services of interest to women, and attend a luncheon and fashion show targeted to raise breast cancer awareness;

Who is it for? 
Women of all ages in the area served by River Region are invited

Why do they do it? 
Women in Mississippi have a high propensity to heart disease, obesity, and diabetes.  This event (approximately 800 attendees) encourages women to meet medical experts, receive free health screenings, learn about the latest in medical technology, and hear first-hand lectures on urgent health issues faced by these women and their families.  The attendees are provided with guidelines for healthy living.
