THRiVE

What is it?
An integrated partnership between the hospital and the Fort Dodge public and parochial school systems that provides innovative programming with the goal of stemming the tide of youth obesity and improving the health and wellness of the youth in Fort Dodge. A full-time student wellness coordinator, on the hospital's staff, is located in the public school to provide leadership and coordination of THRiVE programming. The coordinator facilitates programming for both the public (K-12 population 4,000) and parochial (K-12 population 900) schools.

Why do they do it?
The mission of THRiVE is to give the students of Fort Dodge the knowledge, resources, and support they need to improve and sustain their health, wellness, and personal well-being so they can reach their full potential as students and as future citizens, parents, employees, and business and community leaders. THRiVE works to stem the tide of youth obesity and conditions related to chronic health disease by providing leadership, resources, and support for comprehensive school-based wellness programming in the Fort Dodge public and parochial school systems.
