WINNER REGIONAL HEALTHCARE CENTER, Winner, SD
The Pink Posse

What is it?
The Winner Area Breast Cancer Support Group & Foundation was started in 2007 as a way for trained volunteers, survivors, and medical professionals to reach out to those recently diagnosed with breast cancer and those fighting the battle. The Pink Posse arose following a Breast Cancer Awareness program sponsored by the healthcare center. The group works to provide breast cancer patients support, resources, and hope during difficult times. There are no meetings to attend or fees to pay. The Pink Posse simply provides assistance as needed.

Who is it for?
The Pink Posse serves women from the Winner Regional Healthcare Center patient-service area, a seven county area in south central South Dakota and north central Nebraska.

Why do they do it?
The Pink Posse aims to provide newly-diagnosed breast cancer patients and those fighting the disease with education, support and resources. Some of the services they provide include: financial assistance for mammograms, wigs, prostheses, educational materials, and emotional support. Involvement is as frequent or infrequent as participants want.
