BAPTIST HEALTH CARE –Pensacola, Florida
Mole Patrol Program

What is it?

To promote preventive health, Baptist Health Care teams up with the Moffitt Cancer Center and AAA Auto Club South during one of Pensacola Beach's busiest weekends to offer Mole Patrol – a free skin cancer screening event. Participants are screened by an oncologist or dermatologist and are provided with local resources on how to proceed if additional follow-up is needed.

Who is it for?
All residents of, and tourists to, the Pensacola Beach area.

Why do they do it?
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. More than one million skin cancers are diagnosed annually, but with prevention and education you can save your body’s largest organ from a lifetime of damage. This event enables Baptist Health Care to take its mission "beyond hospital walls" into the community.

Impact: The 2008 Mole Patrol, which was held July 11 and 12, 2008, yielded 522 screenings – a 30 percent increase from the year before.
