RENOWN HEALTH - Reno, Nevada
Baby Track
What is it?
Baby Track is an outbound telemonitoring program established to ensure immunizations for all babies born in Renown Regional Medical Center. Between 65% and 70% of all the county’s deliveries occur at Renown Regional so the program has the substantial opportunity to prevent communicable diseases in northern Nevada.
Who is it for?
All babies born at Renown Regional Medical Center.
Why do they do it?
All parents of newborn children are challenged by remembering and coordinating immunization schedules. Renown Health’s integrated delivery network works to improve immunization rates for its insurance members, other commercial insurance members, and those who lack coverage. Underinsured and transient families are less likely to follow immunization guidelines due to lack of awareness and struggles with financial priorities; these are often the same families who are at high risk for contracting communicable diseases. Although no children are allowed in schools or licensed day care without full immunizations, unlicensed and multifamily day care may not monitor immunizations and therefore create a breeding ground for otherwise preventable diseases.
