Flagstaff Medical Center – Flagstaff, Arizona
Family Fun Day Program

What is it?
Every year, Flagstaff Medical Center’s Children’s Health Center (CHC) sponsors a free Family Fun Day, an event that includes arts and crafts, balloons, games, music, dance performances, resource booths, food and plenty of fun for all ages.

Who is it for?
Each year, the CHC cares for more than 2,200 children with chronic disabilities from throughout Northern Arizona through its Children’s Rehabilitative Services program and specialty pediatric clinics. Family Fun Day is designed for them and their families.

Why do they do it?
Because many of these children have significant disabilities, it is often difficult for them to participate in some of the same activities as other children. Family Fun Day activities are specially focused to allow children with disabilities to be able to participate and interact as much as possible. “Sibshops” are designed to address the special needs of siblings, such as possible feelings of jealousy or being left out, guilt for being well, or embarrassment when a sibling acts or looks different.
