MEDICAL CENTER ENTERPRISE - Enterprise, Alabama
Healthy Woman

What is it?
The Healthy Woman program will feature a series of free monthly seminars, health fairs, educational programs, and interactive events that will focus on the emotional, physical and fiscal well-being of women.  Women make between 80 and 90 percent of all health care decisions, often while having to balance careers, primary and secondary families, issues with parents, and civic work. This program was created by the hospital’s Healthy Woman Advisory Council, a group of community leaders and volunteers, to provide up-to-date health care information for women and their entire family.

Who is it for?
All women in the Enterprise and surrounding communities are urged to register for free membership in the program.

Why do they do it?
The purpose of this program is to empower women with the knowledge and confidence to make informed well-being decisions for themselves and their loved ones.  Monthly presentations will cover physical and emotional health care, as well as financial well-being and spiritual development.

Impact:
More than 500 women attended a free health fair and Women’s Expo which launched the Healthy Woman program in October 2008. A survey, conducted during the Expo indicated that 94 percent of those surveyed plan to attend monthly meetings.  The Expo was followed by a banquet at which there was a presentation titled, “Confessions of an Imperfect Women,” by humorist and motivational speaker Lisa Smartt. The cost of the banquet was $15 for members and $25 for non members.
